I try to keep what I reblog to a PG-13 maximum tone, but I don't always succeed at that.

Also, apparently, I sing Japanese like a flailing horse.

Dyslexie, A Typeface Designed To Help Dyslexics Read

randomlancila:

themightyif:

I’ve always been a slow reader.  Often a VERY slow reader.  I’ve never thought that there was a reason behind it.  I was just slow.  People would say things like, “But you absorb so much more detail,” and I’m not entirely sure that I do.  I just read slowly.

I’m also curious about typography, so I naturally clicked through on the link about a typeface to make dyslexics read more easily.  The person who passed me the link said that her husband, who is very mildly dyslexic, finds it much easier to read.

There is a link partway down that asks you to click it in order to show the entire article set in the font that they designed.

I clicked it and was blown away.  Suddenly, I was zipping along, and it felt as if some kind of serious drag I’d always had but never noticed before was gone, kind of like when your brake pads are mis-set on your bike and they’re always lightly rubbing on the wheel rims, then you get them fixed and suddenly riding was a thousand percent easier.  It was immediately and radically easier to read.  Reading wasn’t like walking against a headwind.

Am I dyslexic?  (Maybe mildly so?)  It’s a disorder that’s often undiagnosed, and I don’t think that this is enough to diagnose myself by any means.  But now I find myself wondering if it’s possible to get the ebook reader that I use to display ebooks in that font.

Anyway, dyslexic or not, check it out — it’s a neat font with a neat goal.

This is super fascinating! Thought it might be of interest to some of my followers :)

am intrigued, but not dyslexic so not noticing a difference in legibility - if you’re dyslexic, does this help?

this is fascinating

This is really cool!

I am likely extremely mildly dyslexic, I often have to go at a slightly slow pace just to comprehend everything I’m reading because often times my mind smashes sentences together and jumbles words around so that they’re incomprehensible. Reading this makes it quite a bit easier, and faster. It’s intriguing! I don’t have enough of a difficulty in reading to make real use of it, going slightly slow usually helps me enough, but it’s a brilliant idea.
